Refit 101

This winter we’re tackling the, rather extensive, list of jobs and upgrades that we’ve been collecting throughout the first season of getting to know WeatherWitch.

When we were initially planning this refit period we were wonderfully (over)enthusiastic about what we could achieve during a month’s refit around full time day jobs…being able to revise the work scope as you go along is something we’re definitely getting good practice at!

Our main goals for this refit:

  • Replace and upgrade the radar
  • Fit new AIS transponder, horn, radio comms mic and router
  • Upgrade our battery charger and new batteries
  • Get hatches refurbished
On route to refit, before we started the cable identification adventures

For this we anticipated spending a lot of time scrambling around in lockers and behind head lining tracing cables and that is certainly the case so far. On the plus side we’re getting to know what things are a lot better and stripping out many of those random “what on earth is this cut wire” cables.
