The Crew

Sailing is about friends and good company, so our crew is in continued flux. However there are a few more common members we should introduce you to…

Miranda

Starting out in everyone’s “favourite bathtub” (an Optimist) in Chichester harbour as a child, Miranda then spent many happy days exploring Poole harbour in dinghies and keel boats. The chance to try offshore sailing for the 1st time, on a 72 footer, in lieu of a week of school, was too attractive and she got thoroughly bitten by the offshore sailing bug. After spending the last ~10 years boat surfing, WeatherWitch now occupies most of her sailing time (though she is known to moonlight as a first mate on a 100 ft sail training yacht). Miranda spends a fair amount of time trying to figure out where Mike will fit all the nav gear he wants (while leaving any room for crew and food!)

Having sailed yachts from 24 – 100 foot and worked in the Marine/shipping industries, when on the water, Mike is now mostly found on WeatherWitch. Generally most productive after a quiet night watch, allowing time to think up the best ideas for the following day…

Trim

If you leave sailors loose for too long, you never know what bright ideas they may come up with during those slow night watches. Trim is in charge of keeping these “bright ideas” under control and providing a little light relief. Although rarely seen on deck (it’s cosier down below) a nice summers day can be enough of a draw. He also enjoys sneaking into warm sleeping bags containing unsuspecting crew…
