Previously we chatted about removing our 2 big, rather crazed, Goiot hatches to get them refurbished after the success with our little hatches in the winter.
The turn around times for getting the refurb done were much quicker in the summer (hence doing it now) so now we have the excitement of refitting our lovely, partly new, shiny hatches 🙂

We realised that the first challenge would be to work out which was the saloon hatch lid and which was the fore-hatch lid as we had forgotten to mark the frames before sending them off. While in theory they are the same, we didn’t want to test that theory! Luckily we were able to match up some small scrapes from when we’d removed them (clearly our intention with creating the scrapes in the first place…?)
Next up: indulging in some solvent use to clean off any tape residue and old sealant. Mike claims he really didn’t enjoy this but I’m not so sure!

Plenty of sealant followed, along with the pleasant occurrence of being able to find all of the bolts and screws from when we removed the hatch lids. We now have 2 lovely clear hatches to complete our set, and no longer have to be concerned whether they’ll hold if anyone accidentally jumps on them.

Thanks Eagle Boat Windows! The hatches look great 🙂
